simple bubble gum nails

bubble gum pink nails Color tipped nails are my staple, particularly with white as my base color for the summer. They’re fun and simple to do, and they make the perfect accessory to any outfit. I have been searching for the perfect bubble gum pink nail polish that stays on for a while now and think I may have found a contender. It’s ‘Carnival Cotton Candy’ by Nicole by O.P.I, Carrie Underwood’s nail lacquer collection. It’s perfectly opaque, enough for me to do the tips in one clean line across. The colors are true to what you see when you’re looking at the bottle. I’ll definitely be trying more colors. I bought mine at my local CVS.True White Nail PolishThe white is my go-to favorite, ‘blanc’ by essie. It’s opaque with two coats and gives a true white finish. ‘Snow Me White’ by Sinful Colors is another great option. It’s opaque enough with one coat for nail art purposes.Silver Nail PolishThe silver on my love finger is ‘Strappy Sandals’ by Clinique. I was given this and I absolutely love it. It’s pretty opaque for a shimmery nail enamel which is nice and not always easy to find.bubble gum pink nails Pink lipstick and lipglossI paired this look with Pure Color Envy lipstick in ‘Infamous’ by Estee Lauder. The perfect shade to go with my bubble gum nails and gives my lips a hydrated, creamy feel with the right pop of color. I topped them off with limited edition ‘Poppy‘ lipsgloss by AERIN.

dressy casual does exist!

Ever have someone tell you that it’s going to be ‘dressy casual’ and you have no idea what that even means? Well, it means that you have to find an outfit that you won’t feel underdressed OR overdressed in. They do exist, I promise. And not just in the form of skinny jeans, a dressy top and heels (I do love that look btw). Here is my favorite take on summertime ‘dressy casual’.

summer dressy casual

grey, white and gold…YES

It works for patio brunches on the weekends, rooftop dinners on a weeknight or shopping around wicker park if you can stand the heels (high heels high hopes, ladies!)chic dressy casual fashion

Why does it work? Pairing a cotton skirt with a silk or light polyester top dresses it down and vice versa.

grey white gold Gold heels dress up any outfit. So does a smile…and a bright tote.
What do you do to dress up your outfits? I’d love to know!

moving forward

I love arrows. It’s a reminder to always move forward. 2014 has been a year of big changes; Turning 30 (but hey, 30 is the new 20! Unless you’re actually 20…then it’s the new 40), personal relationship, family and career. It’s been a whirlwind. But when a lot happens to you at once, look back and smile, refill your cup, put your lipstick on and move forward.
Let’s see what happens next through my ‘winged almonds‘…
